Basically if a read timeout is set to 15 minutes, does it mean that a download of a file must be completed in 15 minutes or a read time out will occur. Could you explain to he how the read time out functionality works. I may try those suggestions if all else fails. Re: Read Time out issues when sync\'in with ftp ser Obviously from my message I am currently really confused. I am sure my large files/directory listing is downloaded well before 3 hours, but why do I see these timeout error messages? If a large file is downloading and if not completed in the 3 hour read time out period, does bc then cancel the download and log the process as a read timeout? I think I am pretty sure that the 130Mb files should be successfully downloaded at 60-80 Kbs in 3 hours, but maybe this is where I am wrong. I am scared to turn the Read timeout value to zero thinking that my process will never end. If I run the sync manually the comparision takes maybe 10 minutes, I have not tried to run the sync manually and waited for it since it takes a long time.Īlso with the ftp read time out set to 3 hours (10800), the sync log shows that it takes 3 hours before the Read Timeout error is logged. However the script shows it recieves Read timeout messages after a large directory and then the rest of the transfer is then cancelled. The software seems to process the majority of smaller sub directories by fails on the largest directories containing 8000 and 14,000 files. The file count in these sub directories is about 49,000 files. ![]() Both the Local and remote directories are problably 95% identical except 300 - 500 files. The files are either graphic files or pdf file usually smaller then 2 Mb. I am also recieving read timeout messages when it needs to get a list of files from various sub-directories under the base folder that conatin large number of files. Even though the ftp server says the file was successfully downloaded, the file is never copied to the local site directory. However if I look at my ftp server log it says file successfully sent at 60->80 kb/sec. I beleive my Ftp server which is Serv-u 5.1 does support the recursive list functionality.Ĭurrently the sync is scheduled to run each night and is scripted, it is currently failing when it tries to download large files 130->150 Mb files since the log shows: Error coping : Read Timeout. ![]() I have added both the -a and -r to the list options. I have turned on Passive Ftp and increased the timeout value to a large number (currently 10800). I have read the forum and I have done pretty much everything that has been suggested to solve read timeout error messages.
